Open Space for Garden Groups Sunday 6 July 12-4pm Kapiti Community Centre

As foreshadowed at our workshop last Sunday, the first Sunday we can get the Pak n Save Hall at KCC again for an Open Space on garden groups and time sharing is Sunday 6 July as above.

Hope this works for everyone who is interested.

The idea is that we would combine with Otaki to invite everyone in Kapiti from garden/horticulture/tree crop clubs and societies, KCDC members and staff, schools, Whitireia, community boards, Gray Power, U3A, - go thru Judith's list for any groups likely to have an interest in growing food locally. The open space day will allow people with a particular interest or passion to emerge and take responsibility for the various activities that arise. Its a natural way of organising things. No one is obliged to come. Whoever comes is the right people. Our task as organisers is to frame the question to be addressed, the inquiry, and invite the right people.

Best
Pam

Shocked! How the oil crisis has hit the world
By Andy McSmith, Jerome Taylor and Nigel Morris Saturday, 31 May 2008
British pensioners who cannot afford to heat their homes. European hauliers and fishermen whose livelihoods are under threat. Palestinians forced to fill up their cars with olive oil. Americans asked to go down to a four-day week.
All around the world, in a multitude of ways, the soaring price of oil is hurting rich and poor alike. For the lucky ones, it is simply a matter of changing their lifestyle. But those most vulnerable to the price of oil have been driven on to the streets in angry protests, which raise a fundamental question: what can we do to survive in a world where a barrel of oil costs $127 (£64)?
